A post on The Frisky today highlights a new type of college course that is being seen in universities all over the country: Fat Studies classes. Similar to women’s studies classes, these courses are being touted as a part of the body acceptance movement. At this point, the majority of participants seem to be overweight students, or students who have struggled with body image issues.

Shape Apologizes for LeAnn Rimes Cover: Really?


Subscribers of Shape might remember the October issue with LeAnn Rimes on the cover — that is, if they can see through their tears of rage. In the issue, Rimes talks about how her exercise regimen got her through a difficult divorce, which just happened to be caused by her affair with a married man. Apparently, readers were incredibly outraged that a cheater would grace the cover of Shape. As a response to the hate mail the ‘zine had been getting, editor-in-chief Valerie Latona aplogized for putting the “husband stealer” on the cover, and said that it was a “terrible mistake.” … More »
